Our History

We are a group of concerned community members that started meeting when schools were shut down in 2020.

This group included grandparents, parents, teachers, and retired teachers.

At first, we were fighting for schools to remain open during the 2020-2021 school shutdown. We studied the Health Department’s ‘Return to School Guidelines’ and attended health department meetings, advocating for prioritizing student welfare. We also met with county commissioners to share the shutdown’s impact on our students.

We realized that the solutions started with the school board. According to the Colorado Constitution, School boards have complete autonomy.

Our group came together and learned how to help with school board campaigns to elect Pro-Parent, pro-academic achievement, and School Choice board members. We played a crucial role in getting our candidates elected.

Our group members volunteered for candidates in Fall 2021, and three of our four candidates won. We spent the next two years on District Committees and meeting community members and D11 families. We help families get involved in the district and connect them with board members when they have issues or concerns.

In 2023, our group knocked over 11,000 delects to get two previous and two new boards elected. This grassroots advocacy effort was instrumental in getting four great board members elected, demonstrating the power of community engagement in shaping our district’s future.

We need more D11 community members to continue the efforts started in 2020. Would you consider joining the D11 Achievement Alliance?
